2009-June-IW Festival

 IW Festival, June 2009

The Isle of Wight Festival 2009 saw a massive Scout involvement. Festival promoter John Giddings wanted to raise money for his "Save the Bees" project. We provided teams of Scouts and Guides to help selling bees and raise funds. In exchange we received a percentage of the proceeds - enough to put with a grant and install a solar power system at Corf Campsite. Following the festival we mobilised another massive team to help clear up the site by salvaging thousands of tents, chairs, sleeping bags and other equipment which we loaded into a container and John Giddings had shipped to the Scouts and Guides in Antigua! In addition, John spoke to a contact and the government provided us with 4 boxes of Tshirts!

MaC and Hatty collected the Tshirts for the team

Scouts were interviewed on BBC South today - pictured is Danni Marriott.

MaC was supposed to be relaxing at the Festival......

Meanwhile, Steve had his hat too....
As did Rosey!

And one of our GirlGuiding helpers,

And Julie from 1st Shanklin

This guy liked our bees

Not a hat, but we did find a friendly banana

Hatty made some friends

Other people were happy with their own hats

As was Tom, another Scout

Geoff had a hat - here he and Stewart are collecting a container of salvaged camping equipment which Festival promoter John Giddings shipped to the Scouts and Guides of Antigua.

John had a hat and a sack truck. Useful guy!
